Leveling Up

When your character earns a promotion to the next level, it’s time to level up. When you level up, you’ll perform the following steps in any order:

  • Choose a class you qualify for. Gain a level in that class and all the benefits that come with it.
  • Choose an ability you qualify for. Remember that you also gain an ability from your class automatically.
  • At odd character levels, choose a skill.
  • Increase your bonuses to Defenses, Stat rolls, your Vigor, and your other Core Stats as listed on the table below.

Remember that you can perform these steps in the order that is most beneficial to you, especially for purposes of qualifying for new classes. For example, if you’d like to qualify for a specific class that requires an ability, and that ability requires a certain Core Stat value, you can increase your Core Stat first, then acquire the ability, then pick your class. The order that you apply your level bonuses and acquire your abilities is entirely up to you.

Level Bonuses

Characters gain passive benefits and boosts as they level up, regardless of their chosen classes, according to the following table. In addition to the following benefits, you’ll gain an ability from your chosen class every level. The bonuses below are tied to your overall character level, not your current class level.
