Creating a Character
To create a character, perform the following steps in order:
- Choose an Origin for your character. Your Origin includes the following:
- Begin your journey by choosing a basic class to take at Level 1.
- Increase your Vigor from 0 to 1, and then choose 2 other Core Stats to increase from 0 to 1 as well.
- Choose 3 traits that encompass features based on your parentage, your early life, your training, and your personality.
- Choose two languages to learn from the list of languages for your campaign setting. One of them should be the common tongue of the civilized world. In the Dragonpact Campaign Setting, this common language is called Myrran.
- Choose a Fate Breaker to represent your character’s ability to defy the path that destiny has chosen for you.
- Level your character up to level 1.
- Make any choices required by your class at level 1, such as equipment and spell proficiencies.
- Spend your skill point on a skill that you qualify for.
- Spend your ability point on an ability that you qualify for.
- You have some coin to spend on basic equipment and spell tomes. The default amount is 50 gold coins, though your Dragonmaster can change this depending on the starting situation for your adventure/campaign.
- Tally your Derived Stats, such as Health, Armor, and various bonuses.
- Choose a Dragonpact (or roll randomly for one) and explore your character’s description, backstory, and motivations. Dragonpacts should be shared with the Dragonmaster, but not with other players unless the Dragonmaster advises you to do so. These are best uncovered as part of the path of your character’s story. Alternatively, the Dragonmaster may recommend that all characters share the same Dragonpact.
